Hayden Phillips Obituary, Death - Kentucky State Police Trooper Dies in the Line of Duty

Hayden Phillips, a Kentucky State Police trooper and longtime public servant from Russell Springs, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, after giving his life in the line of duty. He was born on September 30, 1997, and dedicated much of his life to protecting and serving others through law enforcement, emergency response and community service.

Phillips had served with the Kentucky State Police for three years and was a member of Cadet Class 103. Before joining the state police, he served with both the Glasgow Police Department and Russell Springs Police Department, where he worked as a K-9 handler. He also graduated from DOCJT Class 506.

A graduate of Russell County High School’s Class of 2016, Phillips continued to serve his community in several roles beyond law enforcement. He was a member of the Eli and Russell Springs Volunteer Fire Departments and served with the National Forestry Department as both a firefighter and EMT. He also worked as an EMT serving the Russell Springs community.

Remembered for a Life of Service

Phillips’ family described his life as one defined by dedication to his wife, his three children, his faith and the people of Kentucky. His commitment to his country was also highlighted in the family’s remembrance of him.

Just one day before his death, Phillips installed a flagpole at his home and proudly displayed the American flag. For his family, the gesture represented the patriotism and dedication that characterized his life.

His wife, Jordan, emphasized that she wants Hayden’s life to be remembered not simply through the circumstances of his death, but through the way he lived and served others. She described his death as an ultimate act of sacrifice and referenced John 15:13, which speaks of laying down one’s life for others.

Family Remembers Hayden Phillips

Phillips’ family said his legacy will continue through his three sons, Kason, Knox and Konnor. They encouraged those who knew him to continue telling stories about his life so that his children can grow up knowing about the impact he had on others.

The family also urged people to honor Phillips by supporting and thanking first responders and law enforcement officers from every agency. His years of service as a police officer, firefighter and EMT reflected a commitment to helping people in his community.

Phillips was preceded in death by his grandfather Phillip Gadberry, grandmother Becky Antle, grandparents Joe and Inis Phillips, and his special aunt Betty Burris, along with other aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Jordan; his three sons, Kason, Knox and Konnor; his mother, Robin Phillips; his father, Larry “Homer” Phillips; his sister, Heather Begley, and her husband, Trooper Billy Begley; and his nieces and nephews, Bentley, John, Mia and Raley Grace.

Funeral and Visitation Arrangements

Funeral services for Hayden Phillips will be held at noon Sunday, October 4, 2026, at E.A. Diddle Arena, located at 1605 Avenue of Champions in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, October 3, at Living Hope Baptist Church, located at 1805 Weston Street in Bowling Green.

The family stated that there will be no visitation before Sunday’s funeral service at E.A. Diddle Arena.

Phillips’ family has asked that his life be remembered through service, faith, family and the stories shared by those whose lives he touched. His years as a Kentucky State Police trooper, police officer, K-9 handler, firefighter and EMT leave behind a record of dedication to the communities and people he served.
