Emma Anne Hill, 25, of Emigration Canyon, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on September 29, 2026, leaving behind a loving family and a wide circle of friends who will remember her for the joy, kindness and friendship she brought into their lives.

Emma was born on December 16, 2000, as the firstborn daughter of Casey and Kysha Hill. She was born with a congenital heart defect associated with a chromosomal deletion known as 22q11. Doctors initially believed her condition could limit her life to only a matter of weeks. With extensive medical care, the support of her family and community, and her own remarkable determination, Emma lived for nearly 26 years.

A Life Marked by Courage and Connection

Emma experienced significant health challenges throughout her life, including multiple heart surgeries, severe scoliosis, limited lung function, heart failure, developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. Despite these obstacles, she continued to find reasons to enjoy life and form meaningful connections with the people around her.

Her family said one of Emma’s greatest gifts was her ability to build and maintain friendships. She made a deliberate effort to stay connected with people, often sending messages or making phone calls to check on friends, celebrate their accomplishments, encourage them during difficult moments or simply spend time together.

That ability to make people feel valued became an important part of her legacy. Emma’s friendships extended beyond her immediate family and allowed her to touch the lives of many people who will continue to remember her.

Cherished Family Memories

Emma grew up surrounded by her parents, siblings, grandparents, extended relatives and close friends. She shared a particularly strong bond with her siblings, Porter, Claire, Adam and Jane.

She took great interest in their lives and found happiness in hearing about their friendships, adventures and accomplishments. Her family’s experiences were important to her, and she celebrated the successes and milestones of her siblings with genuine happiness.

Emma also treasured many of life’s quieter moments. She enjoyed music, spending time with her dogs, visits from relatives and friends, and morning drives with her father. Family trips created additional memories, including time spent at the ocean and beaches, among the redwoods, and at lakes and mountains.

A Legacy of Love and Faith

Emma’s family said her life taught them lasting lessons about faith, hope, courage, gratitude and the importance of loving others. Even during the most difficult periods of her life, she continued to demonstrate a desire to experience the world and remain connected to the people she loved.

During the final months of her life, Emma was able to share affection with her family in especially meaningful ways. Warm embraces and expressions of love became treasured memories for those closest to her.

Her loved ones find comfort in believing that Emma is now at peace and free from the physical difficulties she faced throughout her life.

Emma is survived by her parents, Casey and Kysha Hill; her siblings, Porter, Claire, Adam and Jane; her extended family and loved ones; and her best friend, Nanny Jane.

Funeral Services for Emma Anne Hill

Funeral services for Emma Anne Hill are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the LDS Stake Center, 1320 Wasatch Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, at the church. A second viewing is scheduled for Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., before the funeral service.

Emma’s family and friends will gather to celebrate her life and remember the lessons she left behind about kindness, courage, faith, friendship and unconditional love. Her memory will remain deeply cherished by those who had the opportunity to know her.
